Theology Beer Camp 2024
Theology Beer Camp 2024 was a three-day celebration of craft beer, theology, and community hosted by Homebrewed Christianity in Denver, Colorado, from October 17–19. Designed for theology nerds, podcasters, and anyone who loves exploring big questions while having a great time, this year’s event raised the bar with a dynamic lineup of speakers, activities, and live podcasts.
Highlights of the Event
Speakers & God-Pods: Featured a star-studded lineup of progressive theology scholars and podcast hosts, including Brian McLaren, Diana Butler Bass, Ilia Delio, John Thatamanil, Pete Enns, and Catherine Keller. Popular theology podcasts like The Bible for Normal People, The New Evangelicals, and You Have Permission joined the party.
Activities & Fun: Attendees enjoyed live podcast recordings, a 90s karaoke night, Oktoberfest tailgate party and bottle share, and breakout groups both by region and interest.
Pre-Game Events: For the first time ever, Theology Beer Camp included pre-conference workshops on October 17, with hands-on sessions and deeper dives into theological topics.
Craft Beer & Sponsors: Left Hand Brewing Co. and other sponsors added a local craft beer flair, making sure no one went thirsty.
Why It’s Special
Theology Beer Camp uniquely combines rigorous intellectual engagement with lighthearted fun and inclusivity. It’s a space where theology enthusiasts can connect, nerd out, and leave with new ideas and lifelong friendships. This year’s camp focused on fostering community and asking big questions about the future of faith, all while enjoying the best of Denver’s craft beer scene.
As Camp Director, I worked closely with the event team to coordinate logistics, programming, and sponsorships, ensuring attendees had an unforgettable experience. From overseeing daily operations to supporting live sessions and activities, I was proud to help bring this one-of-a-kind event to life.
My Role
As co-founder of Tidy Studios, I took the lead in organizing Theology Beer Camp, an annual event that grew to over 600 attendees in 2024—our biggest camp yet. I managed every aspect of the event, from logistics and programming to venue setup, catering, security, and shuttle services. Coordinating multiple teams and stakeholders was key to ensuring a seamless three-day experience.
With a six-figure budget, I optimized costs for the venue, music, merchandise, and catering while achieving profitability through ticket sales and sponsorships. My focus on attendee engagement brought the event to life, creating an atmosphere where people felt connected, inspired, and ready to return year after year.
